A visit to Ponce, PR yo nunca dejere de amarte.
Ponce, The Pearl of the South
I recently had the opportunity to visit Ponce, PR., and I was absolutely blown away by its beauty, history, and culture. Ponce is the second-largest city in Puerto Rico, and it is known for its vibrant art scene, its delicious food, and its stunning architecture. I was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico in the 70’s. The island was still a U.S. territory, but it was also experiencing a period of economic growth and cultural development at that time.
The economy was growing, thanks to the expansion of the tourism industry and the development of new industries, such as pharmaceuticals and electronics.
Original owners of Don Q distillery, the Museo Castillo Serralles, In Ponce
A visit to Ponce, PR is a must for anyone interested in learning about the history and culture of Puerto Rico.
One of the first things I did when I arrived in Ponce was visit the Castillo Serralles. This beautiful castle was built in the early 1900s by the Serralles family, who were the owners of the Don Q rum distillery. The castle is now a museum, and it offers stunning views of the city.
Another must-visit in Ponce is the Plaza de las Delicias. This charming plaza is the heart of the city, and it is surrounded by beautiful buildings, including the Cathedral of Ponce. The plaza is a great place to people-watch, have a coffee, or just relax in the sun. I had an empanada and natural orange juice while I visited the marketplace and its different vendors.
Ponce’s art culture is a vibrant and diverse scene that is constantly evolving.
There is something for everyone to enjoy, from traditional fine art to street art and everything in between.
If you’re interested in art, be sure to visit the Museo de Arte de Ponce. This museum houses a collection of over 4,000 works of art, including paintings, sculptures, and artifacts from around the world.
Casa de la Cultura is a center for the arts that hosts a variety of exhibitions, performances, and workshops.
Galería Botello is a gallery that specializes in Puerto Rican art. It features works by both established and emerging artists.
Paseo de las Artes is a pedestrian walkway that is lined with murals and sculptures. It is a popular spot for walking, biking, and people-watching.
In addition to these institutions, Ponce also has a thriving street art scene. There are murals and graffiti art to be found all over the city.
