I have never been much of a fan of the “new year, new me” memes in the past, but As the year draws to a close and we stand on the cusp of a new beginning, it’s been good taking the time to reflect, reset, and set realistic intentions for the year ahead.

New Year’s resolutions often come with grand aspirations and the pressure to transform overnight, but a more powerful approach lies in the practice of affirmations.

Affirmations are positive statements that we make to ourselves about what we want to achieve or experience. They are a powerful tool for self-empowerment and can be used to create a positive and successful year.

Why Affirmations Matter

Affirmations work by influencing our subconscious minds, shaping our beliefs and perceptions about ourselves. When we repeatedly affirm positive intentions, we reinforce the neural pathways that support those beliefs, making it more likely that we will manifest them in our lives.

I have provided 3 basic but powerful journal prompts to get you started on your new year goals and aspirations.



Journal Prompt 1: Reflecting on the Past Year

Affirmation: I am grateful for the experiences and lessons I learned in the past year. Take some time to reflect on the past year. What are some of the things you are grateful for? What are some of the challenges you faced?  What did you learn from these experiences?


Journal Prompt 2: Setting Intentions for the New Year

Affirmation: I am confident and ready to set intentions for a fulfilling 2024.

What are your hopes and dreams for the new year?

What are some specific goals you would like to achieve?

How can you break these goals down into smaller, actionable steps?


Journal Prompt 3: Visualizing Your Ideal Year

Affirmation: I am attracting positive experiences and abundance into my life in 2024.

Close your eyes and take some deep breaths. Visualize yourself living your ideal year in 2024. What does your ideal day look like? What are you accomplishing? Who are you surrounded by? How do you feel? Write down your thoughts and feelings as vividly as possible.

Remember to revisit your journal entries throughout the year. This will help you stay on track with your goals and affirmations.
